Form Your Opinions on the Facts

"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts." --Daniel Patrick Moynihan

Eat at Eddies

The gas tank was nearly empty when I pulled into the service station. While my wife and kids piled out of the car, I filled up the tank and noticed the restaurant named "Eddie's" next door. It looked like it might be a good place for us to grab a bite.

After paying for the gas, I walked into the restroom. Someone had left a message scratched on the wall, designed to be read by weary travelers like me:"Eat at Eddie's--50,000 flies can't be wrong!"

Well, that was one man's opinion. But that wasn't the way I liked to pick my restaurants. (Kent Crockett, The 911 Handbook, Peabody, MA: Hendrickson Publishers, 2003, 175)
