Provoking to Anger

A rattlesnake in a cage doesn't rattle if it's left alone.  However if you take a stick and poke it, the snake will rattle and strike back.  You've provoked it to anger.
Eph. 6:4 says fathers should not provoke their children to anger.  Some children will get angry because they are rebellious and need to be disciplined.  That's not what this verse is talking about.  It means don't poke at them unnecessarily, just to make them angry.
